Peggy Alford is the Chief Financial Officer and Head of Operations for the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, a philanthropic organization that brings together world-class engineering, grant-making, impact investing, policy and advocacy work. Prior to joining the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative in September 2017, Ms. Alford held a variety of senior positions at PayPal, including VP, Chief Financial Officer of Americas, Global Customer and Global Credit, where she was responsible for all finance and analytics for PayPal’s Global Merchant and Global Consumer Business Units, its Global Credit business, and its North America and Latin America regions. She also served as PayPal’s SVP of Human Resources, People Operations and Global Head of Cross Border Trade.
Earlier she was President, General Manager and Chief Financial Officer of Rent.com, before which she led accounting policy at eBay where she was instrumental in creating eBay Marketplace Controller’s Group to ensure the financial integrity of eBay transactions. Ms. Alford started her career at Arthur Andersen LLP, where she spent nine years consulting, including with software and internet companies. Ms. Alford earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Business Administration from the University of Dayton and is a certified public accountant.
