The Senior Manager, Marketing is responsible for fulfilling the Macerich brand efforts to key audiences: retailers, guests, civic leadership, media, investors, and property team. This includes, but is not limited to: strategic planning, budget management, tenant relations, sponsorship activation, agency management, events, tourism, media relations, and community alliances. In all efforts, the Senior Manager, Marketing will not only embrace and demonstrate Macerich core job functions, but also partner with the property team to increase the bottom line profitability of the asset.
Essential Job Functions:
•Lead the Santa Monica Place brand building strategy across all consumer facing channels and messaging.
•Strong and diplomatic leadership, industry connectivity and the ability to execute in an Executive influenced, highly visibly and fluid environment.
•Support efforts to identify, incubate, pilot new technologies to advance the shopping experience for consumers.
•Ability to manage up to Property Manager and AVP Marketing simultaneously to ensure timely roll-up of key information through all proper channels.
•Serve as a senior leader within the property team and continually meet goals as defined by senior leadership.
•Execute high quality marketing activations, events and programs at the property that properly reflect the Macerich brand and serve stakeholders’ best interests.
•Implement advertising campaigns across all platforms including traditional and digital efforts in keeping with brand standards.
•Strong ability to plan and execute strategy across digital and social platforms as well as project manage agency partners when applicable.
•Effectively utilize, grow and analyze social and digital marketing efforts.
•Partner with Business Development on securing revenue opportunities for the Center across all platforms.
•Oversee the implementation and execution of Business Development events, partnerships, activations and sponsorships.
•Manage and evaluate effectiveness of paid and earned media (traditional and non-traditional) used to deliver advertising and sales promotion messages.
•Effectively communicate marketing programs through approved collateral vehicles, adopting brand standards for all on-mall applications.
•Actively partner with Macerich Tourism to execute against Tourism Marketing plan and goals of increasing local and national visitation to the property.
•Partner with Concierge to execute a consistently high level of customer service to enhance the shopping experience for our guests and retailers.
•Support and enhance company-wide cause branding initiatives at the property level and establish strong relationships with local non-profit organizations that help fulfill company and property community goals.
•Identify and foster relationships with government agencies, economic development organizations and other civic groups in order to be active, informed community leaders.
•Monitor, measure and report on civic and community relations.
•Implement company-wide public relations directives and initiatives at the center level, while following guidelines established by the Corporate Communications team.
•Oversee the development and execution of an annual public relations plan to support initiatives and maximize earned media impressions for the property.
•Establish and foster relationships with local media that positively impact perceptions of the property.
•Understand and follow our company’s key performance indicators, as well as REIT/industry trends.
•Ensure all marketing programs include measurable objectives that evaluate return on investment and bottom-line profitability to our shareholders.
•Show fiscal responsibility in planning and executing all marketing efforts, and in any use of Macerich and/or investor funds.
•In collaboration with the property team, develop and implement a Common Area Business Plan (CABP) that increases NOI via strategic partnerships and business development opportunities.
•Educate, communicate and mentor at all levels to ensure operational excellence.
•Utilize market research to develop and implement strategy that supports marketing initiatives.
•Train and evaluate Events & Communications Manager in order to cultivate their strengths for future Macerich opportunities.
•Develop a strong partnership with Leasing to provide information, data, trends and resources to help shape merchandising at the property.
•Prepare for and actively participate in team property visits with senior executives.
•Manage the annual marketing budget within 2%.

Requirements and Qualifications:
•Bachelor's Degree required.
•Minimum of at least 5 years in retail, marketing and/or shopping center experience.
•Minimum of 2 years in supervisory capacity.
•Flexibility in work schedule, as needed.
•ICSC Certified Marketing Director Certification or higher achieved.
•Active Board Member service is a plus.
•Experience as a presenter for an ICSC or industry function is desired.
