Events and Communications Manager

Position Description:

The Events & Communications Manager sources, markets, contracts and supervises activation of special events and promotions that drive traffic to Scottsdale Fashion Square in a way that strategically enhances the center’s brand.  Additional responsibilities include managing external communications and partnering with the (Senior) Marketing Manager to fulfill the strategic plan, marketing and redevelopment marketing objectives of the shopping center.  In all efforts, the Events & Communications Manager will embrace and demonstrate Macerich Core Values and partner with the property team to increase the bottom line profitability of the shopping center.  

Essential Job Functions
•Identify, research and contract events that strategically align with the Scottsdale Fashion Square brand and that further the center’s marketing and redevelopment marketing objectives.
•Manage the center’s digital channels including social media, subscriber (eblast) communications and website. Create and maintain, or oversee the creation and execution of a content calendar which supports corporate initiatives, highlights the redevelopment highlights retailers, aligns with current marketing strategy. 
•Manage all aspects of event placement and execution at the center including operational oversight.
•Manage and maintain a current inventory of all customer facing on-mall collateral and signage, including paid and non-paid communications and visual merchandising opportunities.
•Support Tourism initiatives with coordination and execution of FAM events and related programming.  
•Lead team in all aspects needed for an event including concept development, internal and external communications strategy, vendor coordination, production, and recap.
•Consistent focus on delivering a best-in-class customer experience at Scottsdale Fashion Square . Including steering of Concierge function towards heightened productivity and improved customer service.     
•Collaborate with the marketing team to provide marketing support and communication to internal targeted audiences, such as retailers and partners.  
•Collaborate with Business Development to identify partnerships for events and promotions in order to offset costs and expand reach.
•Develop, build and grow retailer relationships by coordinating onsite activities, garnering support and participation in marketing events, and supporting their promotional efforts whenever possible.
•Collaborate with the property team to implement a Strategic Business Plan that includes sponsorships, partnerships and revenue generating events.
•Compose correspondence to retailers, vendors, leasing, and corporate offices.
•Represent the center as an Ambassador at community engagements and presentations upon request.
•Provide information for the creation, implementation and evaluation of the center marketing plan as well as redevelopment marketing plan.
•Provide information to the (Senior) Marketing Manager in preparing the annual budget. Assist with monthly reforecasts and financial reviews.
•Partner with the (Senior) Marketing Manager to develop niche-marketing programs targeted at addressing opportunities as noted by market research and/or traffic trend reports.

Requirements and Qualifications
•Bachelor degree in Marketing, Communications or related field.
•Minimum five years managerial experience in event marketing, management and/or production. 
•Superior grasp of grammar, content creation and experience of writing to a wide range of audiences – from internal memos to corporate presentations and consumer social media content. 
•Ability to successfully manage multiple projects at the same time in fast paced environment.
•Possess an established set of relationships with local and national event partners and a proven track record of hosting high-profile events is essential.
•Demonstrated project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budget maintenance and problem solving skills
•Strong visual and aesthetic skills as they relate to external and internal print and digital communication. 
•High technical ability as it relates to social media, design software (Photoshop, Illustrator) and web based management platforms.
•Outstanding written and verbal communication and meticulous organizational skill.
•Previous experience successfully implementing events within shopping centers, sports arenas, and other consumer venues is also preferred.
•Strong interpersonal and sales skills are necessary.
•Ability to work evenings and weekends.
